From Franny Syufy, your Guide to Cats

Yikes! Where is this year going? By next week's newsletter time, it will be August, the month when Domestic Cats (my favorite "breed") will be featured as Cat Pictures of the week. A lot more is in store, so grab your favorite kitty and hang on for the ride. If you enjoy my newsletters, please pass it on to friends, or give them the link below.

Personalities of the 12 Favorite Cat Breeds

Each of us has a favorite cat breed. Mine, like many of my readers and friends, is the Domestic cat, not officially recognized as a breed, but popular enough to be included in the Personalities of the 12 Favorite Cat Breeds.

Domestic cats' personalities are as varied as their color patterns, because their personalities are determined by so many different factors. Conversely, purebred cat personality types are an important part of their breeding. Learn more about the Personalities of the 12 Favorite Cat Breeds with this brand new article.

The Wild Look in Cats

Like so many other cat lovers, I have always been fascinated by cats with the "look of the wild;" cats such as the Bengal, the Egyptiian Mau, and the Ocicat. Sensing that I am not alone with this fascination, I put together "The Look of the Wild," for my readers to enjoy.

If you long for the look of the wild in your home, but believe, as I do, that the big cats belong in the wild, one of these domesticated breeds might give you the best of both worlds. Cat Picture of the Week: Phoebe

Some lucky rescued cats fit into a household immediately, others, such as Phoebe, third Cat of the Week for July, take awhile longer. Phoebe spent her first week or so after being rescued, under the bed, only sneaking out to eat when no one was around, or when she was dragged out to use the litter box. Once she came out to stay, she didn't waste time establishing herself as the Alpha cat, to rule over her two older sisters.

Caboodle Cats to be Offered for Adoption

Mark your calendar for Saturday and Sunday, August 11 & 12, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. On those two days, hundreds of cats rescued from Caboodle Ranch, will be available for adoption by ASPCA & Jacksonville Humane Society. Some of these cats have special needs, including barn cats and those that are FIV+ or have feline leukemia. Read more for further details.
