It's no fun taking care of sick cats when you're not feeling 100% yourself. But we do what we have to do, because our fur children depend on us. 2013 is now behind us, and we have a bright new year ahead - a year of mutual love with our feline families. Let's make 2014 the best year ever!

Is it Food or Love?

A good friend of mine recently sent me an email with this puzzling title, Is it Food or Love?

Barry's email clarified the question quite nicely: "Some people say cats behave lovingly toward human beings mainly so the cats can get food. It's rather like a beautiful but penniless woman marrying a wealthy man. Did she marry him for love or money? He doesn't know . . . or care. I don't care why my guy sits on my lap and purrs. I just don't care."

Franny's New Year Resolutions

Franny is a little bit "under the weather," with a cold, flu, or even numonia (whatever that means), so I, Jennifur, her loyal feline, bed partner, and fellow female, decided to paw out some New Year resolutions for her. Yes, I know she already made a list, but this one is a special one. Besides, there's no rest for me in our bedroom, with all her coughing, nose-blowing and groaning, so I might as well help her with her job, to keep me in cat food. So here goes:

Franny Resolves:

  1. To feed Jenny some canned food at 2 a.m. It's inhumane to let a poor cat suffer from hunger all night
  2. To wake up and clean the litter box when she hears me scratching in it. If she doesn't, I might just poop on her side of the bed...reed moor

Photo of sick cat Joey

One of the most common occasions for Subcutaneous fluids is with a cat with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). However, in Joey's case, he had contracted Conjunctivitis from our kitten, Gaither, a form of an Upper Respiratory Infection. Because he felt so bad, and or he couldn't...read more
