ASPCA 2013 Cat of the Year: Koshka

For many years, the ASPCA has held annual Humane Awards. honoring a Dog of the Year, Cat of the Year, and Kid of the Year, along with honors in other categories. This year's Cat of the Year award goes to Koshka, who came all the way from Southern Afghanistan to his new home in Oregon City, Oregon. He lives there with the parents of Staff Sgt. Jesse Knott, who rescued him while serving in Afghanistan.

The Outdoor Cat

The indoor-outdoor debate has gone on for decades, especially with vehement assertions that cats are inherently killers of wildlife. While for several decades my own cats were indoor-outdoor cats, coming in at night. Today, they are mostly indoors-only, primarily for their own safety, with some outdoor options during nice weather.
