From Franny Syufy, your Guide to Cats

We have a full plate again today and Mothers Day is just around the corner, as well as a preview of Summer heat. Try to keep your cats cool and happy indoors, but don't be surprised if they aren't crazy about being hugged when it's hot and humid. Try throwing a few ice cubes into the bathtub for a little play fun instead.

How Soon Can a Cat Go Into Heat After Kittens Are Born?

Adrienne has a cat who gave birth five months ago. She kept one of the male kittens, and has heard that the cat won't have a heat cycle as long as she still has a kitten.

Adrienne wonders if what she heard is true, and if not, could the kitten impregnate his mother? It was apparent to me that this was a disaster just waiting to happen, so I cleared up those questions as well as other misconceptions about pregnancy, heat cycles, and the need to spay and neuter all pet cats. Please read my reply for the full story.

At that time the requirements were a thorough knowledge of the subject, strong writing skills, and a working knowledge of HTML. That was the start of my career writing about cats, and my husband, Asa, the man behind the cats became my strongest supporter, and remained so until he went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 2, 2008...learn more
