Cat Age: How to Help Your Cat Live Longer
 We who love cats want our cats to live as long as possible, since they are members of our family. Although genetics may have an effect on how cats age, there are many things we can do to maximize our cats' life potential, starting when they first come under our care.

If you conscientiously follow these four building blocks, you will have gone a long way toward ensuring that as your cats age, they will enjoy life to its fullest. They will be well nourished, healthy, and happy, knowing that they are spending their life with the person they love best in the world. And you can rest secure that you have done all you could possibly do to accomplish that. That's all we can do, after all, isn't it?
| Serious Cat Diseases Emerge on Both Sides of the Atlantic
From my email this week, I received news of two serious cat diseases emerging: In the U.S., "Bobcat Fever," Spread by the Lone Star Tick. Routinely infecting bobcats and mountain lions, Bobcat Fever is also infecting cats allowed outdoors. The disease is so deadly that traditional treatment only has a cure rate of 25%. In Scotland, and possibly other nearby countries, a mysterious "Robotic Cat" illness has struck older cats, causing them to walk with a strange gait. | So Your Cat is Pregnant: What's Next?
Perhaps you were a little slow in spaying your kitten and before you knew it, she was seven months old-- and pregnant. Perhaps you are working with a rescue group and this is your first fostering experience with a pregnant cat. Where do you go from here? It's decision time. Should you allow the condition to continue, or can she be spayed? Certainly, it's unsafe and unwise to allow a kitten to bear more kittens. Your decision will be based strongly on both the age of the cat and the stage of the pregnancy. Please read the full article for more information.
