Moving 120 Miles With Four Cats

Aside from the task of packing up all our belongings in such a short time, the actual logistics of moving four cats almost 120 miles concerned me the most. Although we had a few setbacks, the move was actually easier than we had expected, and the fantastic part is that our cats are getting along together much better than they ever did before. Little Billy has come out of his shell, Joey has grown sleek and healthy-looking, and even Jaspurr and Jenny are able to co-exist in peace, as shown by this picture. Join us for a step-by-step illustrated narrative of our move with our four cats.

Red Cats Picture Gallery

Enjoy our Red Cats Picture Calendar from last year. Whether we call them "red," "orange," "ginger," "marmelade," or "sunshine cats," they are all handsome, and in my experience, cats with sweet, loving personalities. All the cats in this gallery were chosen from the Life With a Red Cat Show and Tell. Also, the featured Cats of the Month in December will come from that Show and Tell. The cat pictured here is named (no surprise) Garfield. You may submit your own red cat pictures by filling out the form, and uploading up to two photos.

Ellen DeGeneres Plans Vegan Cat Food

I like Ellen DeGeneras a lot; I think she is a talented performer, and a kind, caring person, from all I've read about her. She has chosen a vegan diet for herself because she cares for the animals of this planet. That is well and good for Ellen and other Vegans. But if Ellen cares so deeply for animals, why would she want a species to be denied the food they require by nature to exist? Ellen and her wife and business partner, Portia de Rossi want to market vegan food for cats. "'The couple also are developing a line of vegan pet foods - after discovering a void in the market for people looking to feed their dogs and cats vegan vittles," reports Chicago Sun-Times'" as quoted by The West Australian online newspaper.

I'm not an economist, but I think if there is a void in that particular market, it's for a very good reason: Supply and Demand. How much of a demand is there really for vegan cat food? How often does a cat come home from roaming, proudly carrying an ear of corn? Cats are obligate carnivores, and they need a diet rich in animal protein to survive: the muscle and organ meat of animals, such as chickens, turkeys, and rabbit - vegan substitutes need not apply. While rabbits. . . read more

Create a Cat-Safe Christmas Tree

As our cats are considered family members, they enjoy Christmas as much as we do. The air is filled with new and interesting sounds, sights, scents, and activity. Our Christmas tree has always been central to the Winter holiday season, and this year, it is more special than ever, because it is the focal place of our great room in our new home. During the day I can see tall living Christmas trees through the door to our deck, and although we haven't yet unpacked all our décorations, the cats still love the tree. As always, our tree is a source of constant gazing, sniffing, and batting of ornaments by our four cats. Not to worry though, no ornaments are broken, regardless of how much they're batted around the floor because they are all completely cat-safe. Best yet: our cats are safe. Follow these steps to create your own cat-safe Christmas tree.
